I learned this summer, when I was trying to post all of my internship photos in a timely fashion, that if I get behind on an ongoing project, it's best to just start again with the most recent work rather than trying to fill in the gaps and getting bogged down. After all, it's better to have some false starts than to give up completely. That said, I do have a few other photo-a-day shots from the last week and I'll be making a catchup post in a few days.

My grandpa Louis, my dad, my grandma Edna, and my aunt Dyan watch my dad's video of Dyan getting a hug from Barack Obama.

By the way, I'm sorry if my pictures look oversaturated or overcontrasty to some of you—I'm having a nasty color profile issue in Photohop that I just can't figure out, but I'll be badgering someone about it at Macworld, so it'll get fixed.

You take really gorgeous photos. How much editing do you usually do on them? The colors always look so smooth.

Thanks! I basically just do a little tweaking—levels and that kind of thing, white balance if necessary—pretty much the same stuff you'd do in a darkroom. I'm glad you like the colors, because they're the hardest thing to get right! Digital color management is pretty much the most confusing thing in the universe.

LOL, how appropriate since they're giant Catholics. He even has a memorial John Paul ribbon magnet thing on his car.

I love the first one a lot. Also, I want to hug your grandparents.

The first and second one are lovely. And the highlights are totally blown out on my monitor, but I love it -- it's dreamlike.

Thanks! Yeah, that at least is true of the originals, since it's pretty much all you can do with subjects so backlit (short of HDR, but I hate HDR), but I like the effect too.

Your camera takes great images, it's not easy to get even a halfway decent exposure when a subjects are right on front of a window like that. I also like the naturally looking warm glow your camera produces.
